Stolen?! The time my art was stolen off walls!

Stolen?! The time my art was stolen off walls!

There's the cutest neighborhood called Wedgewood Houston in the heart of Nashville. It's a newer development so there's a lot of construction for new builds. The walls wrapping the construction sites were covered with different images that made Wedgewood Houston unique, and my art was one of the images.

It wasn't long after these construction walls went up that I noticed my art was missing. Giant rectangles had been cut out all along the wall. At first I thought maybe the developer didn't like me and decided he wanted nothing to do with me. But then... it kept happening!

All of a sudden these construction walls were full of missing Tupacs and Biggies, leaving behind giant rectangles.

STOLEN!!

People were stealing my art off the walls! Ha!! I felt like a very beginner-level Banksy or something... the off-brand version. I was so flattered.

Soon after, I got a message from the developers asking me to tell my followers not to cut them out. I replied that I'd never asked anyone to, it was a discovery for me too! They took down the cut-up construction wrap and replaced it with a brand-new one... and not long after... you guessed it! The leftover spaces from Tupac and Biggie were everywhere!

I was honestly both stoked and bummed. I loved the developers and felt for them, but I was also so excited that I may have created something people wanted badly enough to steal. I feel like that's when you know you've hit on something good... maybe?!

Funny enough, a whole year later people are still cutting my art off walls. And don't tell anyone... but I'm kinda here for it. Tag me if you do!
